A lightweight, colour-fast, non-dusty material

Grades and colours of ballast vary across the country (and the world!) as local material is often used. The Green Scene range offers an excellent choice of colours and grades and are suitable for all model railway scales.
Of course, ballast can be found in many places other than the track bed, and this product is equally suitable for road chippings or wagon and lorry loads. Choose an appropriate size for your scale.

Green Scene ballast is made from granulated fruit stones and is then coated with a waterproof plasticised paint. It is therefore lightweight and colour-fast.
As it is made from a wood material, damage to wheel flanges is not a problem, and unlike granite, this product will retain its colour even when wetted with PVA and water.

Apply using a diluted solution of PVA adhesive with a brush or spray.
Don't forget to take care when ballasting around points and other moving items.
