Alclad II Black Primer and microfiller - 120 ml Alclad II
Primer for Alclad 2 finishes.

Use this primer for all regular Alclad II Lacquers which then be applied by airbrush.
Alclad II lacquers are slightly translucent, so variation in shades and effects can be achieved by over-spraying, or use of lighter/darker primers. Variations between panels are common on prototypes, by masking off individual panels and spraying a different finish, this effect can be reproduced on your model.

A suitable primer should be applied before using Regular ALCLAD, such as:
Alclad ALC-302 GREY PRIMER
Alclad ALC-306 WHITE PRIMER & MICROFILLER
Alclad ALC-309 BLACK PRIMER & MICROFILLER
Tamiya or Gunze Sangyo plastic primers
Vehicle primer white or grey

Thin Lacquer finishes will highlight the surface of your model, ensure that all gaps and imperfections are filled, and sanded before use. We recommend a micro-filling primer which will even out minor irregularities.

PREPARATION AND SPRAYING
The surfaces to be painted must be thoroughly clean and free from dust,grease,oil and finger marks.

Apply the correct primer for the type of Alclad being used.
Plastic primers and vehicle primers should be lightly polished with 1000/1200 wet & dry paper to give a less absorbent, smooth surface.
ALCLAD should be sprayed at 12-15psi. Spray from a distance of 2-3 inches from the surface being painted using a narrow to medium width spray fan. Use the airbrush like a paint brush-aim to cover the model in a methodical manner.
Apply in several thin coats, it drys almost immediately (touch dry in 10 minutes), and can be re-coated in a short time.
Buffing is not necessary, tonal variation can be made by polishing selected panels with Micromesh.
REGULAR ALCLAD can be masked over and painted.
Decal solutions can be used with REGULAR ALCLAD, but are not recommended for HIGH SHINE ALCLAD
