The STP control system uses the placement of 'tiles' on a control 'desk' to represent routes, points & signals etc.
Design of the layout and control of fields it made with its own editor
Connection can be made from additional desks and/or PC printer or the CAN bus
Networking with several (up to 9) PC's for the controlling of larger layouts (Genuine (!) route number display with Zimo components)
and also with halted locos, automatic recognition of the loco condition.
Inputs of the route positions into STP is made possible by a program making design of your control panel a user-friendly process.

The vehicles are controlled independently dependent on their position,
and vehicle addresses.

As with the prototype, a locomotive can be held before a stop signal. Also distances covered slowly in stations or uphill are administered in a similar way. This function uses the ZIMO signal controlled train control system.

The connection from the computer to the equipment is made by means of a CAN bus interface to the computer.
This means the PC has direct access to the fast data bus. Changes of the equipment condition can flow without delay into the monitoring program.

This make simple and fast construction possible with small layouts whilst having ample power reserves for large-scale installations.

The most important distinguishment from other control programs means STP without internal carrying of route numbers are read. No control instructions are set in locomotive decoders, but routes are affected indirectly over track sections.
Thus both "handcontrolled" locomotives and manual changes in the layout (locomotive is lifted from track A to track B) are considered.

The connection to the layout:
For the controlling of the layout, STP along with the components of the Zimo control system work together. In particular the employment of Zimo's own "signal-dependent train control system" permits a track-section-referred control, which affects both manual and computer-controlled routes and so offers a maximum of flexibility.
Apart from the components of the Zimo program STP supports also function decoders of other manufacturers (Motorola & ALL NMRA DCC).
