DCC Conversions (not DCC Ready)

Any locomotive that has not been designed to accept a plug in DCC decoder is going to require conversion in order to accept a standard dcc decoder

A standard decoder will control all locomotive functions and factory fitted lighting, a standard installation does not include sound or optional enhancements to factory standard models

The amount of work required to convert a "non DCC ready" locomotive to use a suitable standard decoder varies according to the chassis and pickup design of the locomotive

OO Gauge Locomotives or N Gauge Dapol and Graham Farish locomotives that have a fully insulated chassis, with individual connections from both positive and negative sides of the track to the motor, can be converted for �24 plus the cost of a suitable decoder

OO Gauge Locomotives that do not have a fully insulated chassis, with individual connections from both positive and negative sides of the track to the motor, usually of "split chassis" design can be converted for �30 plus the cost of a suitable decoder

N Gauge Locomotives from Wrenn and other manufacturers can be converted for �30 plus the cost of a suitable decoder

Booking in your locomotive

Before you book in your locomotive for DCC fitting it is most important that you can confirm your model runs well to begin with, fitting DCC will highlight any issues with pickups and motor contacts.

We can of course service and repair your locomotive (subject to available parts) prior to fitting DCC for an additional Service and repair charge
